And when it comes to sugars, it&#8217;s not only you who&#8217;s fed but the bacteria in your mouth too, and that causes tooth decay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If we are cautious regarding our diet, then we should be two or three times as cautious with our little ones&#8217; diet! Since they tend to stick to the teeth and are removed with rather difficulty.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>And what about chocolates?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the American Dental Association ADA, chocolates are easier to be washed out from teeth than other types of candies, especially dark chocolate (70% cocoa or more) which has some health benefits. So as per stated in some studies chocolate is not as bad as other <a href=\"http:\/\/oralhfa.com\/index.php\/2020\/02\/22\/diabetes-and-oral-health\/\">sugary candies and treats<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Number 2 on the list is the retentive starchy food that tend to stick in between teeth, this includes potato chips, and soft breads.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Carbonated and fizzy drinks:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They not only contain huge amounts of sugar but also contain acids that can wear away the outer layer of teeth thereby weakening them and making them more liable to decay and sensitivity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What are healthy alternatives for kids to chew on?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Fresh vegetables which are rich in fibers, such as carrots and cucumbers as they act as natural cleansers for teeth and gums. According to the ADA they also stimulate the flow of saliva in the mouth which naturally contains traces of minerals, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most importantly calcium and phosphorus<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, that help restore the effect of acids produced by bacteria on the teeth. So, a snack of fresh vegetables sticks can be counted as a natural defender for teeth and gums.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dairy products such as milk, plain yogurt and cheese naturally contain calcium that helps rebuild the outer layer of teeth that might have been affected previously by eating other sugary food.
